We are playing a major role in influencing the of black male youth through a variety of programs. Both scholarships and mentoring services are provided to black male youth at the elementary and secondary levels as well as providing school supplies to students who cannot afford them. We also assist with adult services and programs such as jail ministry, parent seminars and financial empowerment seminars assist adults in improving their understanding of issues affecting their well-being.

For more than a decade, (SYC) has provided life-changing experiences and opportunities for at-risk DC students, giving Black and Brown children access to rowing, swimming, yoga, tennis, tutoring, and inspiring experiences often not readily available to children from under-resourced families. Since March 2020, SYC has also served as the infrastructure hub for Ward 6 Mutual Aid, a partnership of more than three dozen organizations that came together to share resources and save lives after the COVID-19 pandemic struck the District.

Our career training and placement programs up-skill unemployed under-employed and career-transitioners who are interested in careers in the tech industry. Our entrepreneurship programs support Black and Latinx tech start-up founders to get them the resources support and funding they need to build high-growth high-scale tech companies.

BMT) recruits, prepares, places, and retains male teachers in elementary schools by building a robust pathway to the teaching profession, beginning in high school and continuing to support through college and into their teaching career. BMT began in 2018 based on research that told us that a diverse teacher corps improves student outcomes for all children, especially children of color. students in elementary school who have at least one male teacher are 29% less likely to drop out of school. Those who have two male teachers are 32% more likely to enroll in post-secondary education. Since its start in 2018, BMT has gone from a start-up, to serving 12 in 2020, 42 in 2021 and 63 in 2022. To support our rapid ramp up in programming, our staffing and budgeted spend are ramping up. We are developing a coalition of schools, school districts, teacher training and scholarship programs, and community organizations to achieve this objective.
