Grants to Israel nonprofits for programs that build multicultural bridges and dialogue worldwide to combat discrimination against Jews and Israel. Funding is intended for programs that educate wide audiences about the strong democratic values and multi-faceted achievements of Israel.

Funding is intended for nonprofits that propose programs designed to tell the story of Israel by emphasizing such democratic values as tolerance and respect for the rights of minorities, as well as scientific, technological and cultural achievements. The programs shall aim to build cross-community bridges, dismantle stereotypes and educate both Jews and non-Jews alike about Israel. The ultimate goal is to empower people across the world to combat a global climate of hatred, anti-Semitism and anti-Zionism.

Goals of the Speak Out for Israel Grant Competition:

  1. To fund Israeli organizations and projects which strategically further the cause of combating BDS and building and promoting a worldwide positive image of Israel;
  2. To encourage the creation and expansion of multicultural dialogue to counter negative images of Israel;
  3. To energize and strengthen organizations working in the field of combating BDS and telling the successful story of Israel;
  4. To encourage participation and social activism in initiatives combating BDS;
  5. To raise awareness and struggle against legislative discrimination against Israel and Jews worldwide;
  6. To strengthen Jewish communities around the world.

Estimated Size of Grant:

The minimum grant amount is $50,000.

The grant amount shall not exceed:
- 15% of NGO’s total annual budget.
- 75% of the project’s total budget.

Term of Contract:

Grants received as a result of a successful application must be fully utilized within a two year term.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Eligible applicants should meet the following criteria:
1. Focus area: innovative programs designed to promote a positive image of Israel.
2. Legal compliance: Be duly incorporated and managed according to Israeli non-profit legislation (possess Good Standing certification “Nihul Takin” for 2020).
3. Target audience: International; Jews and non-Jews around the world, open to being educated about Israel in positive and engaging ways.
4. Location: while the NGO should be based in Israel, its projects may be executed in Israel or internationally, and should appeal to a global audience
5. Activity relevance: the NGO’s core activity should be relevant to the grant competition’s theme – presenting the narrative of modern Israel, its achievement and progress. Projects may come from various fields, including democratic values, tolerance and respect for the rights of minorities, social development, as well as scientific, technological, academic and cultural sphere.

The grant funding is not to be utilized to finance the NGO’s overhead and administrative expenses.

Application Deadline: Thursday, December 12, 2019 at 12:00 PM ISR.

Interested non-profits that meet the eligibility criteria are invited to complete the initial grant application form. Organizations selected for the second round will be requested to complete the expanded grant application form.

Applications can be submitted in Hebrew or English.
