If you have questions on eligibility, contact staff via email before preparing your application.

Quarterly payments are made to the institution for direct expense of the fellow.

Prior unfunded applicants may reapply, but all applications will be treated as new submissions.

Only one application may be submitted from a given laboratory to the AES early career grant programs.

More than one application may be submitted from a single institution, but final funding decisions will take into account a preference to limit multiple awards to one institution.

The American Epilepsy Society will offer supplementary training grants up to $4,000 for a limited number of awardees of AES early career funding programs. These awards are intended to supplement an AES or AES/partner early career research grant to enable a promising early career researcher to take advantage of additional training opportunities available outside of his/her institution, such as training workshops in research methodology or high-quality research conferences. For further information and eligibility criteria, see https://www.aesnet.org/research/travel_awards_r-t.

Supplementation of the stipend with other grants or by the fellowship institution is permissible, but fellows may not accept other fellowships or similar awards during the AES Fellowship. Exceptions may be considered. If similar awards are obtained during the review or tenure of the AES Fellowship, the applicant/recipient must inform AES in writing so that a decision can be made about continuation of the award.
