Grants of $4,000 to USA and territories nonprofit organizations, businesses, and individuals to support activities related to plants and the environment. Funding is intended for projects that promote herbalism, benefit people, and protect the planet. Eligible research projects are those with clear goals and a specific plan to achieve them. Projects must serve a community of larger than 25 people.
Mountain Rose Herbs will award grants to those who demonstrate that they share the mission-driven philosophy, passion for herbalism, and commitment to taking care of people while protecting the planet.
The funding source funds projects aligned with the mission and core values in these categories:
Herbalism and herbal education
Accessibility to herbalism (especially to underserved communities)
Individuals, grassroots organizers, home herbalists, small businesses, startup businesses, and 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations may apply.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Applicant must be 18+ years old and a legal resident of the U.S. with a valid SSN or EIN.
- Small businesses must have annual revenue of less than $250,000.
- Preference is given to nonprofit organizations that have been established for a minimum of two years.
Nondenominational religious groups are welcome to apply.
Ineligible
Areas not funded:
- State and federal agencies
- Religious groups
- General fund drives
- Endowment funds
- Fundraising events
- Event sponsorships
This isn’t a scholarship or grant intended for traditional college tuition.
The funding source prefers the grant isn’t used entirely for paying staff but primarily for programming.
Current officers, directors, and employees of Mountain Rose Herbs are not eligible to participate.
If you are a nonprofit or individual who has received a cash contribution from Mountain Rose Herbs in the past five years, you are not eligible.
401(c)(4) nonprofit organizations are not eligible.
Pre-Application Information
Applications are accepted until 11:59 pm (PST) on September 18, 2023.
Winners will be contacted by October 18, 2023, and receive payment within 30 days of validation of your W9.
One application per organization or business is permitted.
As long as your project meets the requirements, you can use the funds to pay for supplies and services you’ve already used.
