Request a Grant Writer

Grant of up to $1,000 to a USA individual to attend an educational or career development conference or activity on library and information services. Eligible programs must be offered by the funding source or by another eligible association. Funding is intended to help the librarian or library professional to keep current in his or her career.

In addition to the financial rewards, the recipient will be provided with access to a member of LRT, who will serve as a "Professional Development Mentor" throughout the award year. If the recipient is already or becomes an ALA member, they will also recieve a free one-year membership in LRT.

Grant funds can be used to cover registration, travel, lodging, or other expenses related to the event.

The awardee must attend the professional development event between September 1, 2020 and August 31, 2021.
Any un-used grant monies can be applied to other events as long as it meets the above criteria - funds un-used funds at the end of the award period will be forfeited.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Library faculty are eligible.

The recipient must be an active member of the sponsoring organization hosting the conference/event if the registration fee is higher for non-members.

Pre-Application Information:

Grant applications are due by February 15, 2020, 11:59 PM CST. The selected recipient of the grant will be notified prior to the ALA Annual Conference in May and the award will be presented during the LearnRT Training Showcase at the ALA Annual Conference.

Please note: If the recipient is participating in a ALA or ALA-related event, monies will be transferred internally instead of being paid to the recipient.

The award recipient will be notified in May 2020.

Documentation/receipts will be required prior to payment.
